Me Ultra Mira Mesa

My husband and I are regulars of Menya Ultra and still agree it is the best ramen in San Diego. Their quality has not been affected by the pandemic. We also love that they offer complimentary chili oil and garlic--something other shops tend to upcharge for. We've been to the original location in Kearny Mesa, the newest in Hillcrest, and here. Mira Mesa one is the least hassle to dine at if you're near the area. Smaller crowds than Kearny Mesa and parking is so easy! The staff here are also awesome and attentive. Food quality is on par with OG location. We always come at opening to get the limited braised chashu which is such a great deal. Lately there is a fatty chashu shortage so they are serving a leaner type of pork. We actually love this lean pork cut and hope they keep it on as an option. Pro-tip: opt for low sodium broth (still plenty flavorful) and ask for hard noodles. The extra firmness adds great texture and holds well over the time it takes you to enjoy your hot bowl of ramen

Came here with my family group of 3 for lunch on Saturday around 12. We got on to the waitlist, waiting for about 10 minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated, we were provided water and got an additional drink order for Sapporo beer in with an appetizer order for gyoza. We wanted ramen so we filled out the paper menu which the server collected and reviewed our order. I ordered the Tonkotsu Chashu Ramen with added egg. My wife ordered the Tantanmen Ramen, and my mom got Tonkotsu Ramen. My ramen was delicious with good flavor. However, it is not a top 3 in San Diego for me. It is probably a top 5 though. The chashu was delicious and done correctly, so the chucshu is a top 3 for me. The broth flavorful and wasn't heavy. The noodles were thicker than I prefer. The gyoza was like all other gyozas out there. The place is clean and had a nice layout. The staff was friendly and checked on us regularly even though it was full. I would come back again if I was in the area and craving ramen. It wouldn't be an overall favorite to be a regular.

Prepare to wait more than 45 for parties of more than 5. Food was great and out server was patient and attentive. It’s the host (male) that you need to adjust to. He’s disrespectful and will make you feel like you are inconvenient to him. He told us to wait outside by just saying “wait outside!” Another family ahead of us in the line was not happy as well. We heard him telling his family how he was mis-treated by the host. I put 3 for atmosphere because I felt like I was rushed to order and to eat my food because they have better things to do.

We went to this ramen place with high expectations as it has all the awards in previous years. But the food is okay not as good as we expected. The fried chicken is very salty. They put a lot of soy sauce. We ordered #2 Tonkusu ramen, not a lot of toppings but a big bowl! The french fries is delicious! The tempura ice cream is good!

A friend suggested we eat at Menya Ultra- and I wasn't disappointed. I've had Ramen before but this was definitely more flavorful. The menu had plenty of delicious options. I appreciated that our server explained options and the difference between the options. The serving sizes are filling and appropriate for the price point. The pork slices were tender and flavorful, thinly shaved green onions were crisp and fresh and the eggs were cooked perfectly. We also had the Fried Chicken which was crispy, hot and fresh-I recommend this too. I would eat here again and certainly try more menu options!

I ordered to go. There will be a line of people waiting for a seat, but for takeout you can just go right in when they reopen at 5pm. Service was prompt and the order came to me in 10 mins. I liked the homestyle broth because it wasn't overly done and not too salty. It feels like something you can eat every day. Wish they had gf noodles.
